Jack  Lowney

Jack A. Lowney, 88, of Midland Park, NJ passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012.  Born and raised in New York City, he resided in Glen Rock for fifty years before moving to Midland Park.  Jack earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from NYU.  A proud member of the U.S. Army 8^th Armored Division during World War II, he was a member and former commander of American Legion Post 145 of Glen Rock.  An active and faithful parishioner of St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock, he was a member of the Association of Mature Parishioners and recipient of the St. Catharine Jubilee Award.  Mr. Lowney was also a member of the Western Union Retired Employees Association.  An avid sports fan, he also enjoyed traveling. 

 

Prior to retiring in 1983, he was an engineer with Western Union in Saddle River for more than forty years.

 

Beloved husband of sixty-two years of Ann M. (Shaw) Lowney.  Loving and devoted father of Dr. Jo Ann Looney and husband Dennis and Dr. Patricia Lowney and husband James Cohen.  Cherished grandfather of Matthew Looney and wife Kerri, Kate Looney, Daniel Cohen and wife Debbie and Brian and Jessica Cohen.  Adored great grandfather of Maggie

 

A funeral mass is planned for Thursday, May 10, 2012, 9 AM at St. Catharine R.C. Church, 905 South Maple Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ.  Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.  The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
