Thomassina M. Russo



Thomassina M. Russo (Russo), 90, of Saddle Brook, NJ passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021.  Born and raised in New York City, she resided in Saddle Brook for the past 64 years.  She was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Saddle Brook..  An avid reader, Thomassina was a member of several library programs and book clubs. She enjoyed cookies & playing cards with grandchildren and spending time with her family. 

Prior to retiring, she was an assistant librarian with the Saddle Brook Board of Education.

Beloved wife of the late Louis A. Russo.  Loving and devoted mother of Gregory Russo and wife Anita, Yolanda Leitgeb and husband Edward, Marianne Westervelt and husband John and the late Thomas Russo and surviving wife Debra.  Cherished grandmother of Greg Russo and wife Kelsey, Michael Russo, Stephanie Bailey and husband Gavin, Alexa Hastings and husband Zack, Tiffany Berry and husband Scott, John Westervelt, Teresa Garofalow, Edward Leitgeb and Louis, Isabella and Stephen Westervelt.  Adoring great grandmother of Lilith Hastings and the late Riley Russo.  Dear sister of the late Vincent Russo.  She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and godchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, 4 – 8pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410.

Due to the potential flooding at St. Philip RC Church the mass has been cancelled and a service will be held at 11:30am at the funeral home.

Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories in Washington Twp.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Thomassina may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
