Louis E. Lorenzo


Louis E. Lorenzo, age 97, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021.  Born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York City, he resided in Fair Lawn for 59 years.  A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.  After his active-duty service, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve until his retirement as a Chief Warrant Officer 4.  Mr. Lorenzo was a parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn and volunteered countless hours at the NJ Veterans Home at Paramus. 

A member of Transit Workers Union Local 100, he was a supervisor of maintenance with the New York City Transit Authority for 32 years before retiring in 1986.

Beloved husband of the late Irma (Lugo) Lorenzo.  Loving and devoted father of Lee Passaro and husband John, Ada Lorenzo-Priddy, Nadine Lorenzo, Louis E. Lorenzo, Jr. and Robert Lorenzo and wife Hillary.  Cherished grandfather of Damien, Daniel, Felicia, Chelsea, Elena, Amelia, Louis III and Paloma.  Adored great-grandfather of Charlotte and Evelyn.  Dear brother of the late Alexander Lorenzo, Jr., Peter Lorenzo and Mary Lorenzo.  He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 4-8 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, vpfairlawn.com.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 8, 2021, 10:30 am at St. Anne R.C. Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn, NJ. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Louis to the NJ Veteran Home at Paramus, 1 Veterans Way, Paramus, NJ 07652 would be appreciated.

My family and I had the privilege of living next door to all of you. Lou always had a smile on his face and always had a kind word to say about everyone. He was so proud of all of you, Lee, Ada, Nadine, Louie and Rob. He was a wonderful Human being. I’m sure he is dancing with your mom right now. And he will always be with you guys, in your hearts and in your memories. May he Rest In Peace.❤️
