John Francis Cobianchi


John (Giovanni) Francis Cobianchi, 92, formerly of Saddle Brook, NJ passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020.  He was born in Vaccaheria, Caserta, Italy on January 12, 1928, to Egidio and Luisa Cobianchi (nee Cappuccio). As a very young child, he immigrated to the United States with his family and was raised in Paterson, NJ. He resided in Saddle Brook for nearly 60 years with his wife Dolores. They raised their four children there.  John was a great husband and father who always provided for his family. John enjoyed day trips with Dolores and many family vacations. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family holiday gatherings, good food and wine. He loved watching films and traveling, especially to Italy and playing bocce. John was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Saddle Brook. 

John attended Kings Point, the US Merchant Marine Academy and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, with a BS in Chemistry.

He was a very successful and highly-educated businessman. He worked in New York City for JP Stevens Company. He used to “catch the bus” on the corner daily for his commute and traveled on business extensively. John later worked as an independent distributer out of his home.

John moved to Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains in 2016, where he made many friends. During his time there he was involved in countless clubs and cultural activities.

He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Cobianchi (nee Pitters) loving and devoted father to Claudia Cobianchi, Dawn Cobianchi, Mark Cobianchi and wife Sandi, and David Cobianchi and wife Gina, cherished grandfather of Sarah Ruland, Luke Brennan,

Alexa D’ Angelo, Dean and Gianna Cobianchi and caring brother of Mildred Marino and the late Rose Buick, Harry Cobianchi, Anthony Cobianchi, Teresa Hawes and Umberto Cobianchi Cole.  Many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends also survive John.

The family will receive their relatives and friends on Monday, July 20, 2020, 5-8 pm with a 7 pm service at Vander Plaat- Caggiano Funeral Home Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410, 201-797-3500.  Inurnment will be at  George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.  An online remembrance will be held at a later date.
