Marian Jozika


Marian (Maric) Jozika, age 79, of Ridgewood, NJ passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2019.  Born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, she immigrated to the U.S. in 1962 residing in Ridgewood, NY for 54 years before moving to Ridgewood, NJ three years ago.  She was a faithful member of Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sava in New York City.  Marian was an amazing baker and had a passion for gardening.  She also loved animals and always referred to them as her “babies”.

Marian was a voracious reader and enjoyed book club, shopping and traveling.  She was known for her quick wit, generosity and infectious smile. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends who she loved immensely.

Marian spent 25 years working for Chase Manhattan Bank. Prior to retiring in 2007, she worked for AICPA in Jersey City for 16 years.

Beloved wife of the late George Jozika.  Dear sister of Gordana Kokotovich.  Loving aunt of Michelle Stojanovic and husband Andre and Marian Kedersha and husband Michael.  Cherished Baba of Stefan, Evan, Sofia and John.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, October 6, 2019, 4-8 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  Pomen Sunday evening at 7.  A funeral service is planned for Monday, October 7, 2019, 9:30 am at St. John Serbian Orthodox Church, 119 Carlisle Avenue, Paterson, NJ.  Interment will follow at All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens, NY.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sava ( would be appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear of Marian's passing. She was such a happy person, so full of life. We will miss her at our monthly book club meetings. We will also miss her lovely baked goods that she so generously shared with us. Regards: Donna Singer, President of Connections.

To the sweetest, kindest and vivacious woman who loved life, family, plants and animals. Marian and sweet George who could not have been better friends but have always considered them as FAMILY!!! They are both always in our hearts and am most thankful for all the beautiful memories.
