Kay J. Gilligan

Kay J. (Ness) Gilligan, 77 of Norwood, born on December 13,1940 passed peacefully away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she attended Bay Ridge High and went on to Secretarial school. She married Bill in 1961 and started a family.  After moving to Harrington Park in 1972, Kay began her career as an Executive Secretary.  She worked as an Executive Assistant to Assembly Woman Greta Kiernan for two years.  She then spent several years with Pan American Airlines before joining National Medical Care, in Rockleigh, as Secretary to the President, John S. Walker, her loyal friend and colleague.

Kay was a true Jersey Girl, residing in Harrington Park for 44 years, she loved her home. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victories and an active member in Club 60.  She loved crocheting and crosswords, her husband, her children and grandchildren.  Kay loved to travel, sail and vacation with friends and family.  She was an honorary resident of Paradise Island, Bahamas.  She would always say, ‘It’s better there.”  Kay loved music and singing and dancing.  She sang in the choir throughout her life and Kay and Bill were always the first couple on the dance floor.  She didn’t like whispering, never minced words and had a wicked sense of humor, a quick wit, and a million-dollar smile.  She always got the last word, and it was always funny.

Kay will be forever remembered and held in the hearts of her loving husband of 57 years, Bill, her little brother Jim (Brenda) her children, Billy (Lori), Stephanie (Bill) & Paula (David) and her grandchildren, Lindsay Kay, Luke, Amanda, Terence, Olivia, Free, Griffin and Kai. xxx
