Carolyn Elizabeth Crumb

Carolyn Elizabeth (nee Snyder) Crumb of Ridgewood, New Jersey died peacefully at home on September 27, 2018 at the age of 86. She was born in Rochester, New York on December 13, 1931 in the home of her parents, Benjamin and Arlien Snyder. She was the fifth of six siblings – Jane (Ronnie), Ben (Ginger), Jim (Marilyn), Donald (Dorothy) and David (Connie). She loved them dearly.

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Howard, and is survived by her four children: Paul (Birgitta), Amy, Nancy (Peter) Crumb-Ricciardi, Neal (Tracy) and five grandchildren: Arlien, Nick, Dan, Benjamin and Patrick. She was the loving Aunt Carolyn to 26 nieces and nephews. Whenever possible she would attend family events, weddings, anniversaries, christenings and the like.

Her love of music was lifelong. An avid flutist and vocalist, she regularly performed in local groups, including Ridgewood Concert Band, Wyckoff Y Singers, Ridgewood Aires and her church bell choir. Together with her brothers and sister, they regularly performed at family gatherings and came to be known as the ‘moron tab & apple choir’. She was prodigious with a needle and thread. Whether at home, on an airplane, waiting in an airport, at church – wherever – she could be found knitting, sewing, crocheting or making a quilt!

She was a devoted wife and mother; always finding time to encourage and nurture. She enjoyed traveling all over the world with Howard and the children. When at home she would spoil her family with wonderful home cooked meals, great fellowship, comfort and hospitality. She took great joy from these moments. She loved her husband and children without reservation.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday November 3, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 22-15 Broadway, Fair Lawn, NJ. Pre-service music will begin promptly at 10:45am. The family will receive friends and relatives at lunch in the Parish Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the Mill Neck Foundation, 40 Frost Mill Road, Mill Neck, NY 11765 or the Our Savior Lutheran Church Music Program, 22-15 Broadway, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410. Soli Deo Gloria

Carolyn is a great person with warm, kind and compassionate heart. Open to any people to listen and talk without any hesitation. Same as her husband, she is global in understanding people in any country, resemble to our Lord Jesus who spread out God's words from East to West. Her life on this earth with faith and trust to our Lord must have lifted her up to the glorious heaven. I am missing her so much, missing her smile. I wish I could have had one last time to talk with her. It is sad to see such a great person departing from this earth. My prayers and thought are with you and your family. Mayumi Limnios

Carolyn was ever cheerful, gracious, generous and faith filled. I enjoyed many years of singing next to her dependable alto voice. She was a kind knitting buddy to me too, sharing her wool stash and wisdom. I will miss her smiling face.
